2025 Structural Superlubricity Conference (SSL 2025)
Conference Background
Structural Superlubricity (SSL) is a groundbreaking field, defining nearly frictionless and wearless interactions between atomically smooth surfaces, primarily governed by van der Waals forces and other non-bonding interactions. The potential applications of SSL in functional devices and industrial equipment are vast, promising innovative technologies and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in mechanics, physics, materials science, electronics, and more.
SSL2025 is a continuation of the Second International Conference on Structural Superlubricity, held in Shenzhen in October 2019. The past few years have witnessed rapid progress in SSL and related areas due to breakthroughs in material synthesis and device design. Innovative concepts such as sliding micro/nano-generators, sliding ferroelectrics, sliding resonators, and mechanically reconfigurable devices have been proposed and demonstrated. However, challenges remain for widespread applications. In addition, some fundamental properties of SSL, as well as the underlying physics of SSL-enabled devices, have not been well clarified. There are wide opportunities in fundamental research and technology development that are worth further exploration and investigation.
The goal of SSL2025 is to bring together leading scientists in the field of SSL and related fields from around the world. We hope to provide an intensive and stimulating discussion of important recent scientific and technological advances, highlight key unresolved issues, and promote future developments and collaborations. This conference will also serve as a platform for developing interaction between leading researchers and industry experts.

Conference Schedule for SSL 2025
Schedule highlightsFlash Group
The Flash Presentation session will be set between the keynote speeches in the morning, providing scholars with the opportunity to present their academic progress during the conference. This session aims to help all participants quickly access cutting-edge research advancements. Each presenter will have 3 to 5 minutes to concisely showcase their latest research findings and innovative ideas. This segment is open for submissions from all conference attendees.
Roundtable
The Roundtable will feature renowned scholars, industry representatives, and leaders from relevant institutions. Discussions will focus on non-consensus issues in structural superlubricity and related fields, addressing key challenges and future development directions, as well as widely concerned academic and technical issues.
Young Scholars/Students Forum
The Young Scholars/Students Forum provides academic reporting and academic exchange opportunities for scholars/postdoctoral fellows/graduate students in the early stages of their careers, as well as builds a bridge for them to communicate with top scholars in the field.
Release of corporate needs and issues
This session aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Renowned domestic and international companies will present their demands in the application of structural superlubricity and related technologies. They will invite attending experts to propose innovative solutions, providing a platform for future collaboration and communication.
